Protect Alaska's Wild King Salmon: Our Heritage, Our survival.

The Issue

Introduction:
King salmon are vanishing from Alaskan rivers—sign now to demand urgent action to save them.

Petition:

For generations, wild king salmon (Chinook) have sustained Alaska's people, culture, and ecosystems. But today, these sacred fish are vanishing. We’re witnessing alarming declines in salmon returns across our rivers, leaving families, Indigenous communities, and subsistence harvesters with empty nets and lost traditions.

The causes are well-known:

Industrial trawlers dragging massive nets through migration corridors, killing salmon as bycatch.
Overfishing by trawlers intercepting kings before they spawn.
Climate change warming oceans and weakening the food chain.
Habitat loss and poor oversight in salmon management.
We believe Alaska can do better.

We demand immediate, science-based action to protect and restore king salmon, including:

Enforce stricter bycatch limits and require real-time monitoring for trawl fleets.
Create stronger seasonal and geographic protections for returning king salmon.
Support Indigenous co-management and elevate traditional ecological knowledge.
Invest in habitat restoration along critical salmon-bearing rivers and streams.
Ensure transparent public reporting.
We urge Alaska’s leaders, fishery managers, and lawmakers to act now.

Saving king salmon isn’t just about fish—it’s about protecting the soul of Alaska, the survival of its people, and the balance of its ecosystems.

Add your name and stand with us to defend Alaska’s wild king salmon—before it’s too late.
