The Issue

We, the undersigned residents, parents, small business owners, and community members of East Dallas, strongly oppose the proposed demolition of the medical office building at 5510 Abrams Rd for the development of a high-rise apartment complex.

This redevelopment would:

🚦 Significantly increase traffic next to an elementary school
💧 Strain local sewer, water, and utility infrastructure
🏥 Displace established community-serving health providers
🏘️ Disrupt the residential character and safety of the neighborhood

📢 Our Demands:

We respectfully call on the City of Dallas, District 9 Council Member Paula Blackmon, and the Zoning & Planning Department to:

Pause any zoning changes or permits related to 5510 Abrams Rd until the community is properly informed.

Host a public town hall or community forum to hear from residents, school representatives, and impacted tenants.

Preserve local small businesses and medical services already serving this area.

Reject zoning variances that would allow high-rise density adjacent to a school zone without infrastructure upgrades and safety mitigation.

👥 Why This Matters:

5510 Abrams Rd is more than just a building—it’s home to trusted health clinics, wellness practices, and small businesses that serve hundreds of families. Redevelopment on this scale, especially without neighborhood input, threatens the safety, accessibility, and fabric of East Dallas.

The surrounding streets, school traffic, and aging utilities were not designed to support yet another high-rise density. We deserve a voice in what happens to our neighborhood.
