The Issue

A woman was struck in the face with a beer mug and left with four stitches. The man who assaulted her wasn’t just violent—he was wearing a Nazi uniform while doing it.

This horrific attack took place outside Cutters Pub in Athens, Georgia. The victim, a 23-year-old University of Georgia student, had confronted the man—later identified as Kenneth Leland Morgan—after he showed up in full Nazi regalia, including a swastika armband.

When she tried to remove the armband, he struck her in the face with his beer mug.

This wasn’t just a bar fight. This was an act of hate-fueled violence, carried out in public while wearing symbols of genocide and white supremacy. It’s an assault not only on one student—but on the values of safety, dignity, and decency that every community deserves.

Morgan has been arrested and charged with two counts of misdemeanor simple battery and one count of felony aggravated assault. Now, we demand prosecutors pursue the maximum sentence allowable under law.

No plea deals. No excuses. No minimizing what happened.

We call on the Athens-Clarke County District Attorney’s Office to:

  • Recognize the antisemitic and hate-based context of this violence
  • Pursue felony charges and sentencing to the fullest extent of the law
  • Send a message that hate-fueled violence will not be tolerated in Georgia or anywhere else

Our communities cannot become places where Nazi uniforms are paraded in public and women are assaulted without swift, serious consequences.

Sign now to demand justice for the victim—and to show that hate has no place here.
