PROSECUTE THE FRAUD IN GRENADA
The Issue
To LYNN FITCH, ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI
To Cindy Hyde Smith, UNITED STATES SENATOR
We, the undersigned as concerned residents, business owners, friends, and neighbors of Grenada County, Mississippi are calling on you to take some immediate affirmative steps to investigate, charge, and prosecute the blatantly illegal and fraudulent activities that have been persisting in Grenada County, Mississippi.
Although there have long been indicators of fraudulent financial transactions and self sealing among members of the Grenada City Council and Grenada City Departments, some of those fears were confirmed upon the release of the State Auditor’s Exception report for FY 2026. Despite being styled as “inappropriate use of funds,” what we are seeing would normally be called “embezzlement.”
Despite numerous reports going into the Office of our State Attorney General about these financial crimes and other criminal activities, we have been disappointed that our requests for help have gone unanswered.
Most disturbingly is that we can point directly to the same kind of behavior that has been justly prosecuted in the past.
We are calling upon Attorney General Lynn Fitch to do her duty and investigate and prosecute without fear or favor.
At the very least, we deserve for an independent investigation to be begun with a trustworthy report to be given to the citizens.
We love our town, and we will not sit back quietly to watch it fall into the ruinous state of some of our sister cities.
