Update: Our Latest Summary Just Went to Saanich Council — Full Report Coming Next

Hello everyone and I hope everyone's summer was good!

Thank you for adding your voice — more than 2,450 of you have now signed on to raise concerns about the Aragon development proposed for the former Trio gravel pit (755 & 773 Cordova Bay Road and 5371 Alderley Road). We wanted to give you a quick update on where things stand.

We just sent an updated three-page summary to Mayor and Council and to Saanich Planning staff. It is linked below.  It covers what's being proposed, the main concerns we've identified — seismic and geotechnical risk, road and traffic capacity, water/sewer/school capacity, parkland, and who pays for the infrastructure — and what we're asking the District to do before this application goes any further. We want decision-makers to have a current, accurate picture of the scale of what's being proposed, and to know this community is still very much engaged.

The full technical report is coming next. This is the master document we've been compiling all summer — with the sources, figures, and appendices behind everything in the summary — and we expect to share it with you and with the District in the coming days. Since this application still hasn't been made public or scheduled for a hearing,  getting the complete picture in front of council, staff, and the community before that happens really matters.

In the meantime, if you haven't already, you can still write to Mayor and Council directly at council@saanich.ca, quoting file numbers REZ00798, DPR01092, and SUB00972 — correspondence sent that way becomes part of the public record. And please keep sharing the petition; the more residents who are counted, the harder this is to overlook.

This development is absoluety not approprriate for our area, period. We aren't going anywhere.
