Gravel Pit Update – May 1, 2025 – The Cordova Bay Association AGM with Mayor Murdock.
Just wanted to thank everyone who came out to the The Cordova Bay Association for Community Affairs 2025 Annual General Meeting last night, with Mayor Dean Murdock as guest speaker. It was great to meet many of you, and thank you for all the support.
Also like to thank CBACA president Barb Lucas for setting that up with the mayor, as it is always great to have his ear as it relates to our Cordova Bay community.
I got to talk to mayor Murdock face to face for a few minutes as he came in the door before the meeting last night and spoke of our concerns about the proposed Aragon development. Also confirmed that he has seen our letter that we sent to him, Council, and the Planning staff on April 24, highlighting all our concerns with the proposed Aragon development.
So, he is aware of our group, and our concerns, and it was good of him to come out and speak to us all.
When asked about the proposed development last night, the mayor was diplomatically vague, but did address some of our concerns, in a try-to-please-everyone sort of way. Unfortunately, the underlying standard statement right now about this development is “until we see a formal proposal we can’t really comment on it”.
But our message is out there.
So, once this proposed development finally gets submitted to Saanich, (any day now) we can begin to approach this differently using their “hard” numbers and our facts, our concerns, and general attitudes about this development.
I believe we have the support of the entire community, and will continue along this path to hold Saanich accountable for this seriously large development and ensure our voices are heard.
We aren’t going anywhere.
Best Regards,
Dan Horth
