Propose an indoor soccer facility at Harvest Middle School
Propose an indoor soccer facility at Harvest Middle School
The Issue
Growing up in Napa, we didn't have the advantage of an indoor soccer facility nearby. We had to travel to places like Vallejos Mare Island just to join an indoor league before Mare Island closed. Now we have to go to Fairfield or Vacaville. As a parent, it's heartbreaking to see our children and friends face the same challenge. The demand for such a facility in Napa has been long-standing, yet our community has been underserved in this regard for years.
Harvest Middle School is currently being repurposed into a sports facility, and this presents a golden opportunity for us to address this need. An indoor soccer facility would cater not only to the youth but also to adults who want to stay active and continue their love for soccer. Indoor soccer provides a safe and controlled environment, allowing the game to continue regardless of weather conditions. This would also keep residents engaged year-round and help foster community spirit through sports.
Statistics from the Sports & Fitness Industry Association indicate that soccer remains one of the top sports played across all age groups in the U.S., with indoor soccer showing noticeable growth in participation. Counties across the country have successfully invested in such facilities, seeing a boost in local engagement and community health.
An indoor soccer facility would introduce many benefits to Napa. It would provide local clubs a place to host tournaments, encouraging more community events.
Please join me in urging the Napa to consider the addition of an indoor soccer facility in their plan for Harvest Middle School. Let’s turn this long-standing dream into reality for current and future generations. Sign the petition today to show your support for a healthier, more connected Napa!
