Proposal Summary: BRIARWOOD TRACE PHASE 1* REASSIGNMENT TO OAKTON PYRAMID
Reassignment to Oakton HS Pyramid: NEW VIENNA METRO-AREA WALKING PATHS ELIMINATE BUSES

This petition seeks to request that FCPS reassign the Briarwood Trace, Phase 1 from Falls Church Pyramid to the Oakton Pyramid. 

* Phase 1: Swanee Lane, Topaz St., Star Opal, Citrine and Zimpel Dr.

● 8130 - Proximity & Community Continuity: Families live and interact daily in the Oakton corridor; new trails connect to Oakton HS and Marshall Rd ES. Same geo-attributes as Dwell/Regents Park/Atrium across the street from us. Shorter commutes improve sleep, community continuity, school activity participation, and college readiness ⍈ ONE SCHOOL PYRAMID, NO SPLIT SCHOOL
● 8130 - Fiscal Efficiency: Bus routes eliminated!! New walkers to Oakton HS and Marshall Rd ES; Thoreau use existing pick-up routes); < 1% capacity impact for all schools ⍈ UNIQUE OPPTY TO REDUCE BUS COST

This change will result in full compliance with FCPS Policy 8130 and also eliminate the need for any FCPS provided transportation needs as the students will be within walking distance of a school or a designated school bus stop.

FCPS is conducting this comprehensive review after about 40 years and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to make sure that our voices are heard regarding the future of the FCPS students residing within the BRIARWOOD TRACE PHASE 1.
