Prompt Sutton High School to Serve Healthy, Nutritious Meals to Pupils

The Issue

As a concerned parent of a child attending Sutton High School, I fear for the nutritional well-being of our children. The school's current meal plan contains an irresponsible amount of Ultra Processed Foods and insufficient portions that leave the kids hungry. These meal practices could inadvertently contribute to long-term health issues for our children.

Research shows that unhealthy diets filled with processed foods are connected with obesity, heart disease, and Type 2 diabetes (Source: American Journal of Clinical Nutrition). Moreover, the American Academy of Pediatrics asserts children who are undernourished at school may suffer academically, as lack of proper nutrients can cause difficulty concentrating.

In response to this, we urge Sutton High School to reconsider its meal provisions, prioritizing healthy, nutritious meals with minimal processed foods and ample portions that leave our children truly satisfied. The health of our children needs to be a priority. Hence, we call upon the relevant authorities to act upon this request to safeguard the future health and academic success of our students. Please sign this petition to advocate for healthier, nutritious school meals at Sutton High School.
