Good day! We are the student from Parañaque National High School Baclaran, respectfully present this petition to advocate for inclusive dress code policies that accommodate the religious and cultural needs of Muslim girls within our school community. Specifically, we request the option for Muslim girls to wear a long-sleeved top as part of their uniform, eliminating the need for an additional jacket.

We understand the importance of maintaining a standard school uniform within the school environment. However, we believe that a slight modification to the existing policy would greatly contribute to fostering a more inclusive and accommodating atmosphere for all students.

The reasons behind our petition are; Firstly, is the RELIGIOUS FREEDOM It is crucial to recognize and respect the religious freedom of Muslim students. Modesty is a significant aspect of Islamic dress codes, and allowing long-sleeved tops as part of the uniform would align with these principles. Secondly, COMFORT AND CLIMATE CONSIDERATIONS wearing a long-sleeved top as part of the uniform would provide Muslim girls with a comfortable and climate-appropriate option. This adjustment would ensure that they can maintain their modesty without the need for an extra layer, especially during warmer seasons here in the Philippines. Furthermore, PROMOTING INCLUSIVITY Inclusivity is a cornerstone of a positive and supportive educational environment. By accommodating the dress code needs of Muslim girls, the school can foster an atmosphere where students feel respected and included, irrespective of their cultural or religious backgrounds. Lastly, ENCOURAGING DIALOGUE AND UNDERSTANDING Implementing this change in the dress code policy can spark positive dialogue and understanding among students about diverse cultural and religious practices. It contributes to the broader educational goal of promoting tolerance and acceptance.

We recognize the challenges in revising established policies and appreciate the considerations involved. Nevertheless, we believe that by making this adjustment, the school can send a powerful message of inclusivity, understanding, and respect for the various cultural and religious backgrounds of its students.
