My passion for the environment, particularly the importance of trees, has led me to start this petition. As a resident of Region III in the Philippines, I have seen firsthand how our climate can fluctuate drastically between summer and rainy days. Trees play an essential role in mitigating these extremes.

Trees provide shade during hot summers, reducing temperatures by up to 8 degrees Celsius. They also act as natural flood barriers during heavy rains by absorbing excess water through their roots (FAO). Furthermore, trees improve air quality by filtering harmful pollutants and releasing oxygen.

Despite these benefits, deforestation continues at an alarming rate in our country. According to Global Forest Watch data from 2020, the Philippines lost 130kha of humid primary forest which equates to a 2% decrease since 2002.

This petition aims to raise awareness about the importance of tree planting and its positive effects on our environment and health. It is time we take action together - let's promote tree planting initiatives in Region III and across the entire nation for a healthier Philippines!
