I am a resident of Southern, South Africa, deeply invested in the health of our planet. My dream is to leave a legacy that extends beyond my lifetime, ensuring future generations inherit an earth that can sustain them. This dream begins with transforming our manufacturing processes and waste disposal methods.

South Africa is home to diverse industries contributing significantly to our economy. However, many of these industries are not mindful of their environmental impact. According to the Department of Environmental Affairs, South African industries generated approximately 108 million tons of waste in 2011 alone (Department of Environmental Affairs). The majority was disposed improperly or unsustainably.

We need stricter regulations on manufacturing processes and waste disposal methods. We must promote recycling and reuse strategies over landfilling or incineration which release harmful greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

This petition calls for government institutions and private establishments alike to prioritize sustainable practices in their operations. It's time we put our environment first for the sake of our children's future.
