The Issue

In 2024, Missouri continues to rely heavily on coal, accounting for 52.7% of the state's energy mix. Coal, while abundant, is a notorious contributor to numerous long-term environmental and health issues including acid rain, climate change, and even heart disease. As someone deeply concerned about these implications, I'm urging for a change towards more sustainable energy solutions, starting with our local communities.

The city of St. Louis can take significant steps toward a greener future by incorporating solar energy into school facilities. Schools are central to our communities, not only serving as educational institutions but also as role models in sustainable practices. By ensuring our schools are powered by solar energy, we provide cleaner air for our children, teach them about the importance of renewable energy, and set an example for future generations.

Switching to solar energy in school facilities is a practical, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly solution. It reduces reliance on harmful fossil fuels, cuts down electricity costs, and lowers carbon footprints. Moreover, solar panel installations in schools can serve as powerful educational tools, helping students understand and engage with renewable technologies firsthand.

The benefits are clear, and the capacity for solar energy integration is within reach. Missouri, blessed with abundant sunlight, is in an ideal position to harness solar power effectively. We urge the local government of St. Louis to prioritize funding and support for solar installations in school facilities.

Stand with us in helping the Peace Warrior Global Youth Program's effort in advocating for a sustainable future. Ensure that our children learn and grow in healthier environments. Please support this push for green energy solutions by signing this petition and encouraging local leaders to embrace solar energy in St. Louis school facilities.
