Currently, pinball, a game that trains the mind and hones the reflexes, is enjoyed by millions worldwide, yet it remains unrecognised as an olympic sport. The strategic thinking required, the myriad levels of difficulty and challenge offered by the unique design of each pinball machine aptly reflects the spirit of sportsmanship and skill. Based on a 2019 study by the Pinball Industry Association, approximately 1.5 million pinball machines are active worldwide, showcasing the popularity and reach of this exciting game. We believe that the inclusion of pinball in the Olympic games will elevate the profile of the sport, and acknowledge the highly skilled athletes who excel in it. This will contribute to the diversity of the Olympic games, while promoting intellectual and fine motor skills development. Hence, we appeal to the International Olympic Committee to consider adding pinball as an official sport in the Olympic games.
