Prolong MTAs Operating Hours on Weekends

The Issue

New York City, known worldwide as "the city that never sleeps," ironically, has a Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) system that does not match this reputation on the weekends. The MTA currently ends service at 1:59 a.m. and does not resume until 6:00 a.m. This time gap inconveniences thousands of late-night commuters and visitors in the city. It's time we adjust the MTA's operation hours to better align with the city's night-owl character. With approximately 1.65 billion annual riders as reported by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, it is evident that the demand for an extended service is warranted. Additionally, extended MTA services could provide safer transit options for weekend nightlife participants thereby possibly reducing the risks of impaired driving incidents in the city. Let's demand that the MTA extend its operating hours on weekends, ensuring a truly 24/7 service for the city that never sleeps. Please sign this petition to carry New York into a new era of round-the-clock public transit.
