Project ReloCAT

The Issue

As the largest secondary institution in the Bicol region, Tabaco National High School struggles to observe proper animal control within its parameters.

Aside from the typical student-teacher population, Tabaco National High School hosts one peculiar group of residents—cats! Near the guard house, around the clinic, and all the way to the JICA building, these friendly felines are easy to spot. It’s not uncommon for students and staff alike to come across these furry friends. They have managed to sneak their way into the campus and call it their home.

Some of the school's faculty are kind enough to care for these animals. However, the diets of these cats cannot be limited to kind gestures of being fed with leftovers.

While taking a stroll around the school, it was observed that most of these cats were malnourished and infested with fleas. There were litters of kittens huddled together that would run away when approached, hinting that these cats were deprived of human affection.

The cat population of the school will only increase if left unattended. Moreover, living in the school and surviving off scraps is also unsustainable. The current situation at this rate is detrimental to their well-being, and may even come to affect the learners and school staff.

Project ReloCAT aims to call the attention of the stakeholders and those who share our ideal that all animals should be taken care of. By signing the petition, every signature increases the chances that our call will be heard; that these cats can be sent to forever homes where their needs will be met and they will be loved unconditionally.

Let us reach the school’s administration, and, possibly, the local government so they can see the issue at hand and save these lovely cats.
