Project Preserve Westel is a community effort asking TDOT to reevaluate the proposed widening of SR-299 (Westel Road) from two lanes to five lanes near I-40 Exit 338.

We support necessary safety improvements and replacement of aging infrastructure, but a project of this size could permanently affect homes, property, traffic patterns, and the rural character of Westel. Before moving forward, we are asking TDOT to meet with our community, provide the traffic and safety data supporting five lanes, explain the long-term plans for Westel Road, and seriously consider less disruptive alternatives.

We are not against progress. We are asking for responsible, transparent progress that respects the people who already call Westel home.
