Project K.A.L.E.B.: Make PEI First in Canada
The Issue
Prince Edward Island has the opportunity to lead Canada in safety, awareness, and inclusion.
I am calling on the Government of Prince Edward Island to introduce a voluntary autism identifier option on driver’s licences and provincial ID cards through Project K.A.L.E.B. (Keep Awareness, Law Enforcement Better-informed).
Autistic individuals may experience sensory overload, difficulty processing instructions, or communication challenges—especially during high-stress situations such as traffic stops or accidents. These responses can be misunderstood as non-compliance, which can unintentionally escalate situations.
This initiative would allow individuals to voluntarily and privately self-identify, helping law enforcement recognize when a different communication approach may be needed.

✔️ Focused on safety, not labels
Other Countries have already implemented similar programs with positive results. PEI has the chance to become the first province in Canada to pilot this kind of initiative.
For me, this is personal.
My son is autistic, and in just a few short years, he will be driving. Like any parent, I want him to be safe—not just on the road, but in every interaction he may face. A simple misunderstanding should never put someone at risk.
This is a practical, low-cost solution that could:
Improve safety for individuals and law enforcement
Reduce misunderstandings during traffic stops
Promote inclusive, modern public policy
Prince Edward Island can lead the way.
Sign this petition to support Project K.A.L.E.B. and help make PEI the first province in Canada to take this important step.
