My name is Jamarr Hopkins, and I am the grieving of Tahjmere Hopkins, whose life was brutally taken on May 3, 2018, in Petersburg, Virginia. Tahjmere was abducted, beaten, tortured, stripped naked, bound, shot , 6 times, and left on a random porch on St.Matthews St in Petersburg Virginia. 

Before his death, Tahjmere did the right thing—It is alleged by a Petersburg Police officer whom was questioned by Special Agents of the F.B.I Violent Crimes division in Virginia. This officer stood by their claims under questioning.  That Tahjmere turned in narcotics he had received in the mail to the Petersburg Police Department. Instead of protecting him, the system failed him.

No investigation was ever conducted into the drugs Tahjmere turned in.
The Petersburg Police Department lied about the crime scene and his last known whereabouts, misleading both our family and the public.
Our repeated complaints to Internal Affairs and the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office have been ignored, leaving us without truth or justice.
We believe that Tahjmere’s murder is tied to his act of courage in handing narcotics over to the police—and that corruption and misconduct have buried the truth.

We are demanding:

An independent investigation into Tahjmere Hopkins’ murder.
Accountability for the Petersburg Police Department and the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for their misconduct and negligence.
Oversight from the Virginia Attorney General and, if necessary, the U.S. Department of Justice.
Justice delayed is justice denied. Tahjmere’s life mattered, and the truth must be revealed.
