I am writing this petition out of personal frustration and disdain for the thumbs up reaction. It grinds my gears, it's disgusting, and I hate it. This seemingly innocent symbol has become a source of annoyance for many like me. The thumbs up reaction is everywhere - from social media platforms to messaging apps - and its overuse has diluted its original meaning.

While some may argue that it's just a harmless way to express approval or agreement, there are others who find it insincere or dismissive. A study by Brigham Young University found that people interpret emojis differently, leading to misunderstandings in communication (BYU News, 2016). In fact, the thumbs up emoji was among those with the highest misinterpretation rates.

We believe that eliminating this reaction could lead to more thoughtful responses and better online communication. We urge all digital platforms to consider our plea seriously.
