Prohibit the Use of IXL in Educational Institutions

Prohibit the Use of IXL in Educational Institutions
The Issue
As a concerned student, I have personally experienced the negative impact of IXL on mental health. This online learning platform, while marketed as an effective tool for education, has been causing undue stress and anxiety among students. The pressure to achieve perfect scores and the punitive measures taken when answers are incorrect are detrimental to our well-being.
Studies have shown that excessive pressure in educational settings can lead to increased stress levels, anxiety disorders, and even depression among students (American Psychological Association). In fact, a study by Stanford University found that more than 70% of students reported being often or always stressed by their school work.
IXL's system exacerbates this issue. It demands perfection from its users - every mistake leads to a decrease in overall score which forces students into a cycle of endless attempts at perfection. This is not conducive to healthy learning or mental well-being.
It's time we prioritize student mental health over rigid academic platforms like IXL. We urge educational institutions across the country to reconsider their use of this platform and explore other methods that promote healthy learning environments without compromising our mental health.
Please sign this petition if you believe in creating healthier educational environments for all students.
