As a deeply concerned group, we can no longer ignore the dangers that Nitrous gas, specifically "whippets" or "Galaxy gas", presents to our children and young adults. It is a first-hand witness to the dangerous and life-altering effects of this substance on countless innocent lives, and this concern translates into this urgent call for action. Nitrous gas is being abused extensively, predominantly by children and young adults, many of whom are unaware of the grave consequences of their actions.

According to a report by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), inhalants were the substance of choice for an estimated 550,000 young adults aged 18 to 25 who introduced drug use in 2015. One of the most frequently abused inhalants is nitrous gas. The products are easily accessible as they are sold at local vape and smoke shops, leading to an alarming ubiquity of the substance.

The long-term impact on the health of users includes but is not limited to nerve damage, serious long-term cognitive disruptions such as memory loss, emotional instability, and in some rare cases, it can be fatal. Yet, despite these devastating potential consequences, our establishments continue to openly sell these dangerous substances.

Thus, we are calling upon lawmakers to ban the sale of Galaxy Gas, "whippets," nitrous gas in Vape and Smoke shops. Let's make a joint effort to protect our future generations from the potentially catastrophic effects of these substances. By doing so, we can ensure a safer, healthier environment for our youth.
