Last year, a grieving mother lost her son Johnny to Kratom toxicity. It was a devastating blow to her and the community, illustrating the dire consequences of this highly addictive substance. Kratom, a product commonly sold in gas stations and smoke shops, has been linked to lethal overdoses across the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), from July 2016 to December 2017, Kratom was found in the systems of 152 individuals who had died from an overdose, indicating its danger. This substance, although marketed as a natural remedy, can lead to addiction and even death. It is thus crucial that we take a stand to protect our community from this peril.
