Good evening,
Please join us at the Walk for Water to protect Eagle Creek and our water from the LEAP industrial site! We look forward to seeing you TOMORROW Saturday, March 14 for the Walk for Water event.
We are excited to show that our community is unified in opposition to Lebanon Utilities’ and Citizens Energy Group's plans for Eagle Creek and our drinking water by walking across the bridge together and being in communion with the space we are coming together to protect.
When: Saturday, March 14, 2026
Time: Parking as soon as 10:00 AM, event begins at 10:30 AM
Where: 7225 W 56th St, Indianapolis, IN 46254 (Mary & John Geisse Soccer Complex)
Registration is strongly encouraged: Please let us know if you will be there at bit.ly/walkforwater26 and ask your friends and neighbors to do the same!
We will be gathering at the soccer area to hear from community leaders and then walking over to the bridge together! We will walk towards the middle of the bridge which is approximately 25 minutes, stand together with a large “Save our Water” sign, do some singing and chanting together (hopefully we will see some wildlife as well) and then return to the soccer complex to close out the event.
Speakers:
- Annette Johnson, Pike Township Trustee
- John Barth, Council Vice President
- Dan Boots, Council District 3
- Marty Risch, Eagle Creek Advisory Committee
- Rachael Wolverton, Eagle Creek Advocate
TIPS:
Getting there: Biking, walking and carpooling to this event is encouraged.
Check the weather before heading out: IN weather is always a bit unpredictable but we are expecting temperatures in the 40’s and wind speed of 10-15 mph. Please dress accordingly.
Parking: Please plan to park around 10:00 AM, at the Mary & John Geisse Soccer Complex at 7225 West 56th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46254 (across from Eagle Creek Reservoir, main entrance). Enter at the north gate off of 56th St. Gather at the corner of 56th and Reed Road.
Staying comfortable, restrooms, etc:
Dress for warmth, wear comfy shoes, bring water and a snack. Please use the restroom prior to departure as bathroom access is limited.
There are some restrooms within Eagle Creek (bring your pass or cash for the entrance) and a couple of portable restrooms on site. Restrooms in park bounds are located near the entrance and in the Discovery Center.
Mobility considerations: People are welcome to join us for the portion of this event at the soccer field, and please feel free to bring a lawn chair. Listen to your body and act accordingly, safety is a top priority. If you want to walk over but would like to keep the route shorter, we suggest heading up the back end of the walk so that you’ll be closer to the side of the bridge beside the soccer complex for a shorter walk back.
Protest Signs: Bring protest or yard signs with you! This is our chance to get some great photos in the news to ensure our community is aware of what is happening and to show what we are coming together to protect.
Yard signs: A limited amount of yard signs will be for sale from 10:00-10:30 AM - ranging from $7 to $10 cash please.
The route: The walk may take around 25 minutes each way, we will aim to be back at the soccer complex parking lot by noon.
At 10:30 AM we plan to have a short rally with community leaders then walk across the Eagle Creek Reservoir Bridge to advocate to protect our waterways from the LEAP industrial site. We will be engaging in singing and chanting!

Background: Citizens Energy and Lebanon Utilities to utilize Eagle Creek Reservoir and our broader water system as a source for millions of gallons of water for the LEAP industrial site and to return 100-200 million gallons a week of treated water from Lebanon and the LEAP industrial site to Eagle Creek without the community’s input. Saturday we continue our demand for studies, transparency, and protection for our drinking water and the Eagle Creek ecosystem -- and we are also expressing our direct opposition to plans to connect our water system and Eagle Creek to the LEAP industrial site at this time.
Please register so that we can keep you up to date about this event and about this important issue at bit.ly/walkforwater26.
