The Issue

The first time I saw a Cybertruck driving by after watching a YouTube video highlighting its potential dangers, I grew increasingly worried about the safety standards of vehicles on our roads. Just like the U.K. and Australia, I believe Canada should seriously consider banning Tesla's Cybertruck due to its risk factors towards pedestrians, cyclists, bystanders, and people in other vehicles, particularly in case of crashes.

The design of the Cybertruck, with its sharp edges and heavy weight, does not prioritize safety. Compared to regular vehicles, whose designs are rounded and less heavy to increase safety, the Cybertruck stands out as potentially more dangerous in collisions. Pedestrian crashes, for instance, are 75% less likely to be fatal if the car has a soft front and is lighter, according to a study by the European Transport Safety Council. Given the Cybertruck's design, the risk could be significantly higher.

We must not wait for tragic incidents to happen before addressing this issue. Australia and the U.K. have already responded to these safety concerns by banning the Cybertruck. It's time for Canada to follow suit. Our safety and the safety of our loved ones could potentially be at stake.

A vehicle should not only be viewed as a means of transportation, but also as a device that should guarantee the utmost safety for its users and for those around it. Therefore, I urge you to sign this petition to ban Tesla's Cybertruck in Canada. We must prioritize the safety of Canadians above all. Please sign this petition and let's request our government to take action.
