The Issue

Seeing multiple videos of strangers filming young girls is a growing concern for parents, and it's frustrating to hear law enforcement say it's not against the law. I have personally faced this distressing situation; strangers have filmed my own daughter multiple times. It's a feeling of helplessness when those we trust to protect us claim their hands are tied. It’s infuriating to think of how different their reactions might be if it were their children being filmed.

Children deserve the right to privacy and safety from such invasions. Yet, current laws seem to be turning a blind eye to a significant infringement on these rights. The impossibility of police intervention in situations where strangers film children, despite parental protests, indicates a glaring gap in our legal system.

We propose a change in the legislation that specifically addresses and prohibits the unauthorized filming of minors by strangers in public spaces. This change could prevent such disturbing acts and provide clear guidelines for law enforcement to take action. It's a necessary step towards ensuring our children's safety and preserving their dignity.

Statistics show a rise in incidents involving unwanted filming and privacy invasions, underscoring the need for legal reforms. Other countries have successfully implemented stricter laws protecting children's privacy, proving it's a feasible and effective solution.

It's not enough to have no laws explicitly forbidding this behavior; we must create protective measures. We need legislation that empowers law enforcement to act decisively against those who invade our children's privacy in such unsettling ways.

Let’s call for action now! Sign this petition to demand laws that safeguard our children from being filmed by strangers.
