Like many U.S citizens, I am deeply concerned about the integrity of our democracy. Our Supreme Courts, both state and federal, are sacred institutions that should remain free from political influence. They are designed to be non-partisan spaces where justice can prevail. Recent events involving Elon Musk's alleged coercion of voters to reject "activist judges" through monetary incentives have sparked a serious conversation about the partisanship involved in the selection process of judges.

It's alarming that this is happening at a time when we should be focusing on strengthening our judiciary’s independence.  Judicial interpretation must free from any explicit or covert influence.

Many Americans think that judges are influenced by political or personal views, undermining the public’s confidence in the courts. However, our justice system thrives on public trust and we simply cannot risk it being compromised.

The time has come for us to protect our courts from potential partisanship. We must urge our lawmakers to pass legislation disallowing any individuals, including Elon Musk, from offering payments to coerce voters to sign petitions against or for particular judges. Our courts and the democracy they protect are too important to risk any further damage.
