Imagine lying in bed, exhausted after a long day, only to be met with the intrusive, unyielding glare of LED lights pouring into your window. This is the reality faced by myself and my neighbors due to the recent installation of LED light fittings in the outdoor porch doorways of certain rental homes managed by Abri Housing. These lights, equipped with automatic features, burn bright throughout the night, making it nearly impossible for us to get a restful sleep. Prior to this change, our cul de sac was quiet well lit through the on street lighting but now abri are saying that the lack of on street lighting is a health and safety risk which is nonsense ,as I literally have a on street light a few metres from my home , it's a battleground of frustration and sleepless nights.

The imposition of these LED lights is not a slight inconvenience—it's a legitimate public nuisance that has significantly affected the quality of life for those living opposite these illuminations. While the tenants inside these homes are not at fault, it's immensely unfair that the wider community has to suffer due to decisions made by the housing association. Abri Housing's refusal to revert back to the less intrusive traditional light fittings is inconsiderate of our well-being and has left us feeling powerless and voiceless. 
not only does it affect humans it is also affecting the local wildlife,  I have lived in my home for nearly 15 years .i have seen a difference in the amount of led lighting and in street lighting in the area that is affecting the bats and the birds  that reside locally.  It is becoming so unnaturally bright that this is having an effect on  them.  

Sleep deprivation is not a trivial matter; it has been linked to numerous health issues such as stress, anxiety, and decreased cognitive function. The World Health Organization reports that lack of adequate sleep can increase the risk of chronic health problems. This situation not only brews unnecessary neighborhood conflicts but also poses long-term health risks that cannot be ignored.

We are calling on Abri Housing and all housing associations to take immediate action and replace these LED outdoor lights with the less obtrusive, traditional light fittings previously used. This is a reasonable and viable solution that respects both the comfort of the tenants and the well-being of the neighboring community.
