The American Psychological Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Counseling Association, National Association of Social Workers and almost 500,000 mental health professionals have "condemned" the practice and acknowledged the harmful impacts that ex-gay camps have on participants.

The California Legislature recently passed legislation banning mental health providers from engaging "in sexual orientation change efforts with a patient under eighteen years of age" and if such occurs, it is considered "unprofessional conduct" and they "shall subject the provider to discipline by the licensing entity."

New Jersey has similar legislation.

Join us in asking Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to continue to take action on issues affecting our LGBT youth, by prohibiting health and mental health providers from recommending ex-gay therapy to anyone under the age of eighteen.
