I find myself penning this appeal not merely out of preference but from a personal and painful experience. I am a wheelchair user, and rather tragically, was knocked over in my chair by a reckless delivery biker. The biker, showing not an ounce of remorse, rode off only to leave behind a trail of laughter. It's this brazen disregard for safety, empathy, and basic human dignity that drives me to take a stand.

Countless individuals like me are routinely endangered by these delivery bikers who riddle our city centre, their haste often overriding their sense of civility and safety. It's important to note that pedestrian accidents involving delivery cyclists have spiked by a startling 75% in urban areas between 2009 and 2018 (Source: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration).

The bustling city centre, filled with foot traffic including elderly people, children, and disabled individuals, is not the site for a race. We implore the city council to transform the city centre into a no-go zone for delivery bikers, and instead establish designated, safe routes for them outside of the crowded core. This action will undoubtedly improve safety and quality of life within the city centre.
