(I’m not looking for donations!!!)

I'm an everyday Phoenix resident, like many of you. Every day, in the Arizona heat, I can hear dogs cry out from the confines of their cages. It's a sound that chills me to my core, a haunting cry that should not exist in a compassionate society like ours. Unfortunately, it has become the everyday reality in our neighborhoods.

It's not uncommon to have temperatures in the high 100s in Phoenix. Inside a cage, the conditions are brutally exacerbated for our canine friends. Studies have shown dogs are more prone to heatstroke in confined spaces, struggling to maintain their body temperature due to the lack of air flow (ASPCA). It's a horrific situation that they face in a place where they should be safe: their homes.

Our local laws currently do not clearly forbid the caging of dogs in private residences, and it is high time we addressed this glaring oversight. We need our local government to outlaw the cruel practice of keeping dogs caged in the brutal Arizona heat. Let's unite to demand the Phoenix City Council to amend local animal welfare laws, to prohibit the confinement of dogs in cages during any time of the year.

This is an issue that affects us all. It is high time we speak up, and give our furry neighbors a voice. Sign this petition and help us put a stop to this cruelty. Ensure the welfare of pets in our neighborhoods, bringing us a step closer to a more compassionate community for all.
