As a long-time resident of Cass County, I have always cherished our annual fair as a family-friendly event that fosters positive activities and celebrates local accomplishments. However, the sale of alcohol during fair week threatens this wholesome atmosphere we've worked so hard to maintain.

Alcohol can lead to unruly behavior and potential safety risks, which is not conducive to an environment meant for families and children. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), alcohol-related incidents are responsible for an average of 95,000 deaths in the U.S each year. While these statistics are nationwide, they underscore the potential dangers associated with alcohol consumption.

Our county fair should be a place where everyone feels safe and comfortable participating in all activities without worry or concern about inappropriate behavior fueled by alcohol consumption.

Let's keep our Cass County Fair focused on community engagement, family fun, agricultural education, and local achievements - not on alcohol sales. Please sign this petition to stop the sale of alcohol at our beloved Cass County Fair during fair week.
