Prohibit Alcohol Delivery from Food and Drink Delivery Services

The Issue

My personal struggle with alcoholism has brought me face to face with a critical problem in our society - the unrestricted delivery of alcohol by food and drink delivery companies like Deliveroo, Just Eat, and Uber Eats. As an alcoholic, I can order any quantity of alcohol from these delivery platforms, and it is handed over to me without any questions raised, even when I am evidently inebriated.

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism reports that an estimated 15 million people in the U.S. alone struggle with alcohol use disorder. The ease of access and non-existent restrictions from delivery services amplify these struggles, potentially leading many down a dangerous path towards substance abuse. In the same context, a study published in the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs highlights the connection between easy access to alcohol and increased alcohol-related problems.

It is evident that changes are urgently needed to the policies of these delivery companies to consider the ramifications of their services. A reasonable option is to enforce a ban on alcohol delivery unless adequate checks and measures are in place to prevent irresponsible consumption.

Let us pledge to combat this issue by urging Deliveroo, Just Eat, and Uber Eats to prevent unrestricted access to alcohol through their platforms. Please sign this petition and join me in creating safer, healthier communities.
