Prohibit AI media of any form on social media platforms
The Issue
As a concerned individual who observes many children being glued to their devices, I believe it's important to address the content that's captivating and potentially addicting them. The rise of AI-generated media on social media has led to a surge in low-effort content that offers little substance or value. This is particularly worrying when it comes to children, who deserve better in terms of digital engagement and mental stimulation.
AI media creation, excluding voiceovers, should be prohibited on social media platforms. AI art and short-form content, often termed as "slop," tend to prioritize quantity over quality, keeping children occupied without providing meaningful interaction or learning opportunities. With studies indicating an increase in children's screen time and potential negative impacts on their developmental growth and psychological health, it is crucial to take action.
Providing children access to the internet and digital devices is not inherently negative. Yet, we must ensure that their digital consumption is not dictated by content that lacks human creativity and effort. By prohibiting AI-generated media from filling our social feeds, we can encourage creators to focus on developing thoughtful and engaging content, fostering an environment that stimulates young minds and supports their development positively.
Another reason I think AI media generation is bad is because it takes so much of the mineral water or whatever they use and yeah it should just be chat bots, TTS and OCR and others
(petition maker here): i did not know change.org would use ai for this petition but its ok i guess. anyways i think prolonged use of these tablets can be detrimental to a childs health who is on a tablet for like 12 hours a day likely watching 2 things at once. these parents are giving children ipads so they will be queit and occupied. Considering that for Gen Beta their main central source of entertainment is AI, i think it just should stop. many games kids play on these tablets like Roblox, have almost all games made with AI of somesort or contain AI content (like popular game Steal A BrainRot) which does what the title says, i also want to point out that when these tablets are taken away the kid will get very mad and will start screaming or crying. also the kids are getting mad at that roblox game a pointed out so they should just go outside
