We want clarity in our grades.
We want clarity in our grades.
The Issue
After the last exam in ECON 459-501, many students were worried about their grades. After our exam grades were entered, our professor withheld the class averages before and after the 9-pt curve (a notable decrease from the 25 pt. curve of the last exam). He did not provide the average upon being asked and when asked about if the class is likely to be curved, if the final will be curved, and how the curve was determined, he did not provide any information. It is extremely unorthodox for a professor to withhold such information about averages and to leave so many students in the dark about their grade prospects in the class relative to their peers. We suspect that the average following the curve is still failing, as a poll in the class GroupMe showed 22 students receiving F's, and only one with an A, two with a B, five with a C, and five with a D. There are seniors that may have to take an extra semester due to the lack of information provided and being that this semester has been highly tumultuous and that the class has generally been very difficult for almost every student in the class, we find our professor's actions to be egregious. We only wish to have the information that should be but is not shared with us, please sign to support this cause.
