Professional Year and Naati should not Expire - Very unfair
The issue
Who is impacted by this 4 year expiry of Professional Year program: International Students
What is Professional Year Program:
The Professional Year Program (PYear) is a job-readiness program that bridges the gap between full-time study and professional employment in Australia.
International students who completes their higher education studies in Accounting, IT or Engineering - gets option to do Professional year program which gives them 5 points towards General Skilled Migration Visas such as SC 189 / 190 or 491.
Eligibility Criteria for Professional Year:
Applicant should hold or have applied for the Temporary Graduate Visa with a validity period of at least 12 months. They must have scored certain marks in IELTS, PTE or other English language proficiency test.
The professional year validity is 44-weeks. It consists of 32 weeks of classroom study and training. Fee ranges from $3500.00 - $15000.00 depending on which PY course and place of PY provider etc.
Now biggest scam is - Why does PY points expire after 4 years from start date of PY? Honestly as a part of this program, applicant hardly learns anything except wasting time for 12 months and paying this huge money from their hard work.
Who created this policy that after 4 years your points will be expired as well as you can not do PY again? PY is not a skill which you gain which needs professional development in order to be current. Its biggest fraud on name of Australian points system but if its there then why points should be taken away after 4 years? What makes one to think that 4 year should be a time frame when NOTHING WHICH BEEN LEARNED as part of this PY year gets away from student's knowledge bank?
For sake of fairness and being reasonable, please change policy to make PY points to be there for ever with no expiry date. Its just unreasonable, unethical and unfair on international students who are suffering already with high points, high expectations and uncertain future in terms of migration settlement.
