PETITION FOR IMMEDIATE REVIEW OF FEES SCHEDULES FOR 2016/2017 ACADEMIC YEAR __________________________________ WE SEEK REDUCTION To: The Vice Chancellor KNUST Kumasi Dear Sir, The student body is indeed saddened over the current fee schedules for 2016/2017 academic year with its accompanied brouhaha, which has as well acclaimed to itself not less than an average 300ghc increment. Basically on this issue do we address your office, entrusting our hopes in you to come out with a word followed with actions to help reduce it immediately. OBSERVATIONS It is vividly observed that the students are been made to pay amounts which needs in-depth clarifications. These include; 1 a sharp increase of the *field trip*( college of engineering) amount from a 30ghc to a whooping 100ghc. Indeed this raises eye brows. 2. an outrageous sum of 200ghc tagged as practical fee added to the students of Colleges of Sciences, Engineering and Agriculture & Natural Resource. This specifically needs more explanation. 3. a Technology service fee of 200ghc which to we the students, it is a clear cheat on us. Students will like to also understand; 1. where actually the 60ghc health care fee really fix in, where In most cases we are not treated without NHIS Card. 2. the explanation of the student integration fee (35ghc) and references on cases it acts. 3. the tagged paperless communication fee and its equated relevance to the 50ghc been charged for it. 4. fees named SRC Devt Fund, SRC Welfare Fund, Endowment Fund been paid while we pay SRC dues in addition. CONCLUSION The students have now been exposed to cheats and we have our stands on the issue. We therefore conclude that most of the fees are undoubtedly raised beyond level while some remains questionable and ghost nature since they are never felt through out our stay on campus.
