Produce Quentin Tarantino’s “Natural Born Killers” Starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell
The issue
The purpose of this online petition is to get “Natural Born Killers” produced and released the way Quentin Tarantino originally wrote the screenplay before Oliver Stone changed it. Quentin Tarantino is an Academy Award-winning filmmaker of such classics as “Pulp Fiction”, “Kill Bill Volumes One and Two”, “Inglorious Basterds”, “The Hateful Eight” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, with fans all over the world.
“Natural Born Killers” is the only Quentin Tarantino screenplay that has never been produced and released the way he originally wrote it and if it was remade to the specifics of his original script, inclusive of setting it in the time when he wrote it, then it would complete the collection of films he has already given to the world of cinema.
Quentin Tarantino doesn’t write screenplays like other writers. With the “Mr. Orange” flashback sequence in “Reservoir Dogs” the audience saw a movie within a movie. With three separate stories in “Pulp Fiction” the audience saw the characters interacting in the different stories as major characters in one story could be a supporting or minor character in another story, like the way cinematic universes do now. The brilliance of the original “Natural Born Killers” script is that it’s about the media turning serial killers into heroes and the middle of it is a documentary that’s shocking, violent and darkly funny.
In 2023 "Anyone But You" was released. It starred Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, bringing success back to the genre of Romantic Comedies. In "Natural Born Killers" Mickey and Mallory Knox are a movie star couple of serial killers. Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell would be perfect as Mickey and Mallory Knox, as they were perfectly cast as a couple in "Anyone But You".
The original script can be read at the link below.

In 2019, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” triumphed at the Cannes Film Festival with rave reviews and its nominations for Best Original Screenplay and the Palm d’Or. Quentin Tarantino was faced with similar victories with “Inglorious Basterds” and “Death Proof” being nominated for the Palm D’or when they were screened at Cannes and he won the Palm D’or twenty-five years ago with his second movie “Pulp Fiction”. Shouldn’t the Quentin Tarantino version of “Natural Born Killers” be given that chance to get that kind of victory?
Over the last decade, remakes have proven to be a very profitable business. A recent example is “A Star Is Born”, released by Warner Bros. It was produced with an estimated budget of thirty-six million dollars and made a profit of nearly half a billion dollars worldwide.
Now, for some more insights to fully understand what Mr Tarantino went through with “Natural Born Killers” and why a restoration of his original vision is so important. In 1994, the Oliver Stone film “Natural Born Killers” was released by Warner Bros. “Natural Born Killers” was Quentin Tarantino’s second screenplay, and for years, he tried to get it made as his directorial debut. As he was unsuccessful in this endeavour, his screenplays had to be sold to get the money for his first film to be made, and “Natural Born Killers” ended up in the hands of Oliver Stone.
With the release of “Reservoir Dogs”, Quentin Tarantino’s directorial debut, his first screenplay “True Romance” was produced and was mostly faithful to the original screenplay. In spite of the ending, and story structure, being changed Quentin Tarantino was pleased with the film that was directed by the late Tony Scott. The same couldn’t be said for “Natural Born Killers”. Oliver Stone and two other writers rewrote the screenplay to such an extent that it left Mr.Tarantino feeling very angry and he made the choice to accept a “Story By” credit instead of a “Written By” credit.
Following the release of “Reservoir Dogs” and “True Romance” was the release of his second movie “Pulp Fiction”, which put Quentin Tarantino on the map as an Academy Award winning Hollywood legend, therefore proving he wasn’t just another filmmaker.
His films proved to be so popular that the screenplays for them got published as books in 1995 and that included Quentin Tarantino’s version of “Natural Born Killers”. Tarantino fans believed that the original Quentin Tarantino screenplay of “Natural Born Killers” was a lot better than the film that ended up being vastly rewritten and directed by Oliver Stone.
As revealed online last year at a “Life In Pictures” seminar with Bafta Mr. Tarantino pointed out two things. Firstly that he has since reconciled with Mr. Stone over his film of “Natural Born Killers”. Secondly that he still hasn’t seen the completed film.
“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” was released in the United States and it’s billed as “The 9th Film From Quentin Tarantino”. Mr. Tarantino has announced that his tenth official film will be his last as he intends to retire after he’s completed it. Quentin Tarantino could direct “Natural Born Killers” as his tenth film, but if he’s not interested, then Robert Rodriguez should direct it as he did an amazing job with Quentin Tarantino’s screenplay “From Dusk Till Dawn” released in 1996 and was the last time he allowed another director to direct one of his screenplays.
With the tagline “From the creator of ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’, ‘Pulp Fiction’, ‘Kill Bill’, etc”, it would be very easy to publicise on movie posters and other advertising. The name of Quentin Tarantino was strong and relevant in the 1990s just as it’s strong and relevant today and there would definitely be an audience for his version of “Natural Born Killers”.
