The Issue

As members of the Malaysian Student Society who are deeply involved in its vibrant and creative culture, we value diversity, expression, and community engagement. However, during the holy month of Ramadan, we believe it is important to pause entertainment-driven activities and re-centre this month around ibadah and Islamic values.

This initiative is not about cancelling creativity, but about choosing intention and recognising that Ramadan is not like any other month.

Why This Matters?

· Ramadan is a sacred time for fasting, prayer, reflection, and spiritual growth.
· Entertainment-focused activities can distract from the purpose and sanctity of the month.
· In recent years, social and entertainment events have overshadowed Ramadan’s true essence.

What We Propose?

During Ramadan, we encourage activities that:

· Align with Islamic values.
· Promote spiritual growth and mindfulness.
· Strengthen community through:
     1) Spiritual talks & Quranic sessions
     2) Charity initiatives
     3) Community iftars

Our Call

We propose activities and programmes that promote Islam as one of the main religions in Malaysia, replacing certain entertainment-based programmes, in order to encourage non-Muslims to learn more about the faith and the Malay culture that is deeply intertwined with it.

We urge the leadership of the Malaysian Student Society to realign Ramadan activities with its spiritual essence.

By doing so, we can:

· Enhance the Ramadan experience for Muslim students.
· Foster a spiritually enriching environment.
· Show respect for this deeply significant time of the year.

Please join us by supporting and signing this petition.
Let’s work together to create a meaningful, intentional, and spiritually aligned Ramadan for our student community.
