Prioritising Our Children: Stop The Strikes At Colebourne Primary School

The Issue

Prioritising Our Children: A Call for Stability and Respect at Colebourne Primary

We are calling for an immediate end to the cycle of industrial action at Colebourne Primary. We urge the school’s leadership and NEU representatives to reach a settlement that keeps our children in the classroom and ensures their education is never again used as leverage in a pay dispute.

As parents and members of the Colebourne Primary community, we understand that our teachers deserve to feel valued. However, we believe that the most vital stakeholders in this school -the children—are the ones currently paying the highest price.

Our primary concern is the ongoing disruption to learning. After the challenges of the last few years, our children desperately need consistency, routine, and uninterrupted time with their educators. Every day lost to a strike is a day of social and academic development that they cannot get back.

We are asking for a resolution based on the following:

Putting Education First: We want an end to strikes for the sake of our children’s education. We believe that disputes should be settled at the negotiating table, not by closing school gates and interrupting the lives of children and working families.

Conducting a Respectful Dispute: We call for an end to personal attacks and outside agendas directed at the Headteacher and school leadership. This is a professional dispute regarding budgets and pay scales, personalising the conflict is counterproductive, creates a toxic environment for our children, and distracts from finding a viable solution.

A Commitment to Stability: We call on all parties to commit to a long-term solution that prevents future walkouts, ensuring that Colebourne remains a stable, reliable environment for every child to thrive.

We, the undersigned, support our school and its staff, but we believe that the education of our children and the professional integrity of our school leadership must be non-negotiable. We urge a swift, respectful resolution that brings an end to industrial action once and for all.
