Print disabled bays for Blue Badge holders outside their Stoke-on-Trent homes again.

Print disabled bays for Blue Badge holders outside their Stoke-on-Trent homes again.
The Issue
Stoke-on-Trent City council stopped printing new disabled bays outside people's homes in 2011 (they still reprint any that existed at that point). This stops disabled people accessing public roads in the same way as those who are not disabled as they cannot always park within a walking distance of their homes leaving them stranded in their vehicles or having to deal with excess pain if they force themselves to walk back to their homes.
There are many times I have previously had to leave frozen shopping in the car because I can't carry it the distance back to the house meaning the food has gone to waste and I've had to buy alternative food, I have also received verbal and physical abuse for asking neighbours and their visitors to leave the space outside my home for us to park in.
Personally I see the provision of a disabled persons parking bay as a reasonable adjustment the council has the ability to provide under the Equality Act 2010 to enable disabled people to access the public roads in a similar way to non-disabled people. Those with blue badges have already had their need to walk shorter distances assessed proving their need for such a reasonable adjustment.
Most disabled people I have spoken to understand that enforceable bays cost a lot to create and monitor. So many would prefer an unenforceable bay over having none as most people have the common decency not to use the bay unless they need to.
So please sign this petition if you believe that Stoke-on-Trent City Council should allow new applications for disabled parking bays and that they should start printing them again immediately.
