Hi my name is Jasmine Slack and I am an 11th grader at Central Bucks East High School and a former student of Central Bucks Holicong Middle School (My friends Marin Naugle and Julia Kaplan also helped create this petition with me.) Currently at Holicong Middle School there has been extreme homophobia towards LGBTQ+ students. Examples include hateful usage of the F slur, throwing food at students they know are lgbtq+, deadnaming (which is the usage of a trans person’s old name), and mocking and imitating them. The people saying/doing these things are faced with little to no disciplinary action and have no misgivings about continuing to do them. When LGBTQ+ students go to the people who are supposed to help them, nothing is done. They are told “we can’t stop them”, “you need to grow thicker skin”, “you’re being over dramatic”. LGBTQ+ students deserve a proper support system from their schools. We would like to see students who perform these actions have a formal punishment from school administrators and take these matters seriously.
