Snow days have come to an end due to covid 19 and some rules i do not agree with. In our middle school they had eliminated snow days for google meets/zoom calls. Snow days are a fun break since recces had taken from our middle school. a fun way to see a friend not in a learning environment. They also have many activities you can not participate in most of all weekends during the winter. Such sledding snowboarding and skiing, snowball fights, snowmen, you get it. We have taken this creativity of fun recreational actives that most if not all children will perform during a snow day or break. The teachers don't have to deal with children or work if they don't feel like it, it is a break. Most of all the learning environment in still not ideal for some of the students. This means a break were they can only experience new for that one day can help a lot. By creating google meets on these days the snow will distract children, we all seen us run to the window when it snowing in school, imagine a free space of there own. Again google meets have been proven to be ineffective for some of my friends, Chris says it has been ineffective as it is hard to here teachers and even see what they may be presenting. On some google meet days i even just sat there doing nothing since I could only sit there with a the teachers lagging out and only hearing some of there words. With google meets not worth awhile and snow breaks a fun time for everyone it seems like there is no downside. Did you know that most kids prefer snow days over summer, some teacher to. We may loose a day of learning to be made up for but its worth it for the fun the ineffective google meets wasting children time and a time to catch up with the family
