CTV exposed a heartbreaking story of more than 50 exotic birds who were shipped from South America through Vancouver on their way to Japan. Upon arrival, a social media call went out to help feed the birds and volunteers showed up to see them in unacceptable conditions, some without food and one toucan already dead.

Volunteers, including a veterinarian who reported her concerns to terminal staff, left believing that authorities were going to seize the shipment, only to find out later that the birds were sent on to their final destination, with no repercussions whatsoever.
