The Blak Pride Glitter Petition - supporting marriage equity of all.

About the Petition
The heart of the Blak Pride Glitter Petition states that marriage between man and woman is, and has always been, only one form of union and that as members of the oldest living culture on earth, we recognise and celebrate diversity. The Petition adds that Nanas, Poppas, Mums, Dads, Uncles, Aunties, Cousin-Brothas, Sissies and otherkine' mob – who are deeply honoured in Aboriginal culture – also form the “foundation of our families, clans and systems, and pass down our teachings, our culture, our traditions, from generation to generation.”

Blak Pride Glitter Petition - Rainbow Petition
To the Prime Minister and the Parliament from the Aboriginal People of Australia and being undersigned by members representing the Aboriginal People of Australia, hereby declare:
The Aboriginal People of Australia are the original inhabitants and the first Nation people of this great southern land Australia.
Our continuing cultures and traditions are 1,000’s of years old and are recognised as the oldest on Earth.
Although Aboriginal People come together as one nation through many different self-governing language and kinship groups with unique cultures and traditions, we respect that marriage in all its forms can be held in honour among all.
Our Fathers and Mothers, Fathers and Fathers, Mothers and Mothers are also honoured and form the foundation of our families, clans and systems, and pass down our teachings, our culture, our traditions, from generation to generation.
It is therefore an affront to the Aboriginal People of Australia to suggest any other narrow minded definition of marriage. It's simply not cultural to place Western religion paranoia over the top of our rich cultural heritage.
The Aboriginal people of Australia actually have a vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister of Australia for very very obvious reasons. But given these heady times, we strongly call upon the Parliament to reject any attempt to keep this country in a 1950s, pitch-forkey state of mind. Open and evolve with the institution of marriage, and in doing so, honour the sanctity of both the tradition of marriage and the spiritual implication of this sacred union of ALL unions, same-sex or otherwise.
Respect & Unity
The Indigenous Community who carry this Petition forward, respect all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups and peoples and acknowledge that they do not speak for the entirety of their country or language groups, but rather a large proportion of community who do not accept the gammon Uluru Bark Petition in our names.
WE now call upon our communities to stand with us as one Indigenous Australia to honour and protect one of our ancient and continuing values and open your hearts to the rainbow.
