This is the perfect time for the present government of Pakistan to increase number of seats allocated to overseas Pakistanis/ dual nationals and local students in public medical colleges.

Last year Govt of Pakistan had allowed private medical colleges with 10% seats reserved for children of Overseas Pakistani’s  / dual nationals  but  they are charging exorbitant fee of US dollars  18,000 .- per year. or equivalent in pkr. Parents cannot pay huge fee. 

Currently there are a total number of 3,400 seats in public medical colleges overall in Punjab, which are not enough and need an urgent increment. The number of students appearing in MDCAT is three times more compared to its inception. Hence the number of seats do not suffice or compensate for the students appearing. 

It must be noted that the population of Punjab has drastically increased over the decade and therefore, more doctors are required.

Millions of overseas Pakistanis and locals are anxiously awaiting the decision in their favor by Prime Minister Imran Khan soonest.
