Jamaica: 46.5 per 100,000 Homicide rate 2020 (WE NEED ANSWERS)

The Issue

Jamaica: 46.5 per 100,000 this is the homicide rate for 2020.

Jamaica recorded 1,301 killings in 2020 and had the region’s highest homicide rate at 46.5 per 100,000 people, according to official data published by the Constabulary Force. The United Nations considers any homicide rate of 10 per 100,000 citizens or above to be an “epidemic.” Jamaica’s total killings marked a marginal decline from 2019’s total of 1,339 murders and came as another welcome improvement over 2017’s sum of 1,647.

Questions:

  • When is the government going to make a statement about these numbers?
  • Why was this allowed to happen in the first place going 20 years back in the past?
  • What is the government going to do about the homicide rate overall other than fancy words like crime plan?
  • When will the government put people in charge that can bring changes to Jamaica with the crime?
  • When will we Jamaican change our culture that stops supporting crime thru different means and mindset?
  • when will we Jamaican understand that crime decreased our growth as a country?

Closing statement:

It either the government cannot improve Jamaica or they don't want to improve Jamaica. We need to send a message to our leaders and letting them know that we are watching and we need an answer and results thank you for signing
