Activate AFT Mill, generate Employment opportunities

Activate AFT Mill, generate Employment opportunities

The Issue

To

The Honorable Prime Minister of India,

Government of India, India

It is a matter of great pity to note that the condition of the class of Labourers of Puducherry has become deep grief at the time of celebration of our Nation’s 74th Independence day.  That was the news which all the Dailies carried the same in the early hours on the dawn of the Independence Day, i.e. the Anglo French Textiles Mills which was known to all over the world started in the year 1848 during the French Regime at Pondicherry was shut down permanently and it had become the resource for the people of Pondicherry which created job opportunities to several persons as the fountain for employment, bringing foreign exchange, and became the basic source of economic activities for the Pondicherry at large.  From the year 2011 i.e. after the Thane storm which struck our Pondicherry the politicians who ruled the Pondicherry have not taken any step for the said Mill’s renovation though they assured for the same but gave room for various illegalities towards the said Mill.

Though all the Labourers Unions staged Dharna (Ghero) before the Parliament of India on 5th March 2020 with a common intention to save all the Textile Mills and on the same day evening met the Honourable Minster of Textiles, Mrs. Smirthi Rani and submitted their demand for granting all the assistances including financial assistance.

One week before, all the Newspapers casted the news that Honourable Chief Minister had held meeting with the officials concerned for running the AFT Mill.  While being so, the Principal Officer of the Mill had affixed the notice of shutdown of the Mill at the entrance of the Mill informing that the Mill has been permanently closed.

It is learnt that the permanent shutdown of the AFT mill is the policy issue of the Government of Puducherry.  While so, what the assurances and deeds which have been made by the Government proved that they are all drama.  By which there is an unrest among the Labourers of AFT mill and the notice of such shut down has aroused the wrath and shock to them at this celebration of Independence Day hours.

Hence, we people of Puducherry is insisting the Government of India to interfere to take steps for cancellation the said decision of the State Government’s shutdown decision of the AFT mill permanently and make all sorts of the initiatives to run the same effectively with the immediate effect thereby to wipe out the grievances of the Labourers community.
