Award Bharat Ratna posthumously to Prof. S.N. Bose FRS.

The Issue

Prof. SN Bose is one of the greatest ever physicists who gave us Bose-Einstein statistics and Bose-Einstein condensate. He is one of the few Indian scientists  whose name is studied by every physicist in the world. During his life, Prof. Bose lived a very humble life dedicated to Science with little support from administration and government, yet he did not let his passion for Science die and continued with his phenomenal work. Without the work of Prof. Bose, we could not imagine Physics as it is today. Prof. Bose worked continuously to inspire thousands of scientists in India and also played critical role in setting up laboratories in newly independent India after 1947. Prof. Bose was not awarded Nobel prize during his lifetime because his work on Bosons aka God particle was not experimentally verified; however, Prof. Higgs and Prof. Francois Englert were awarded the Nobel prize in 2013 for their work on Bosons. Awarding Bharat Ratna posthumously to Prof. SN would inspire millions of students across India and world. Science and scientists in India are not celebrated/respected as they should be. The list of Bharat Ratna includes some names who are no way in comparison to Prof. Bose, yet he is eluded from his recognition. I respectfully request the Government of India to posthumously award the Bharat Ratna to Prof. SN Bose.
