We the people of NDG, Montreal are asking that collectively, the governments of Canada and Quebec, work together towards instituting a Basic Income Pilot Project in the borough of NDG.

The program we envision is one where every resident 18 or over receives $ 1,000.00 / month over and above any other subsidies / program revenues. It is our belief and hope that this will move every person in the borough above the poverty line and help them to provide adequate housing, food, basic necessities with a little in excess for emergencies.

Of the 67,475 residents in the area, approximately 25% are currently living under the poverty line. These numbers were generated pre-COVID and as such, we believe the actual figures are greater. We believe that a Basic Income Program is something which governments will be instituting in the years to come and ask that you begin the process in NDG.
